I already knew in the morning that the day would be charged with emotions. Giancarlo and I chanted together in appreciation of our accomplishments. Today was his big day. He graduated from elementary school. He was so handsome with his black suite, dress shirt, and dress shoes. Simply a gentleman! His excitement was contagious. Photos, laughters, gigglings, preparations... I was very excited and so happy to witness this transition on my sons life. So, the ceremony started and all the speeches, exchanges were so touching... The principal announced that President Obama has sent a certificate: Presidents Award for Excellence. I just was telling my self how good would be to my son to receive it. She announced the silver awards, and his name was not there, I looked at him, and he found my eyes... I was telepathically saying it is alright, baby. Then, she announced the Golden awards, and when she pronounced his name, I was screaming, sobbing, trying to videotape him, he looked at me nodding his head, like saying it is alright, Mom! People were asking why I was crying. I cried because I just learned something about my son, he is becoming this incredible sensitive boy, very aware of his surroundings and with a determination of being a better person. I cried because my heart and soul are full of happiness and this is a happy cry. I am so proud of my husband and I for working together and having this great gifted child called Giancarlo Laidley!
