I am 47 years old, and have been crying and bawling my eyes out for the entire day. We had to put down our beloved 6 year old female German Shepherd,Victoria Princess Buckingham Barnett, or Princess as we called you. You were such a great dog. The day i brought you home, i wanted you; momma and the children just went along with me. But when we picked you up, you jumped into the van with momma and your new brothers and sister. I drove home by myself. (Darn you) That was 4 years ago. Isabella was 4.5 yrs old at the time, and was diagnosed with Autism about 1 yr before we brought you home. Its as if you knew. Isabella would poke you in the eyes, and ears, pull your tail, step and walk on you, and you would not even curl your lip at her. You protected her and Andrew when they were outside playing. You would walk Bella down the sidewalk for the bus in the morning, and walk her from the gate to the house when she got home from school. Thank you for being the greatest GSD i could ever ask for. I knew yesterday that you were not going to make it. I couldnt be with you today, but momma was. And i think that is the way it should have been. She brought you home to us, and today she brought you home to the Rainbow Bridge. It was hard for me coming home tonight. It will take me some time to get over you, although i dont think i ever will. I love you Princess. Thank you for protecting my children, and for letting us love you these past 4 years. You are not in pain anymore.
