I am blessed with a laugh that will wake the dead, and two dogs who constantly bring that laugh out of me. Today I was training Beckett on the back patio (our tiki porch), doing the homework that Kristy Netzer had given us- push- send away and around an obstacle. So I was sending Beckett from about 8 around the headless Tiki god (dont judge- the weather got him, not the dogs!) and we were doing really well... Greedy handler that I am, I decided to try to push my luck and gave the verbal cue without the step forward and hand gesture to support it. My dog, being honest, decided to take the closest obstacle instead. Which just happened to be an 18 tall glass topped side table! Up he jumped and into a perfect sit. Me: Push Beckett: jumps up and sits on the glass table Me: falling over cracking up laughing, lures Beckett off the table Me: Push Beckett: repeats the behavior Me: screaming with laughter, the tears start rolling down my cheeks Thankfully all of this takes place behind privacy fencing so, although neighbors can hear me, they cannot see me make a total ass of myself. Beckett was amused!
