THANK YOU “LIFE” & TEMPORARY BIDDING FB GOODBYE! (PART 2) LIFE can be defined as a game of Monopoly. You make various strategies, take risks, and wheel and deal to improve your position. However, when the game is over, remember that all the pieces go back in the box. On the other hand, in real life itself, when the game of life is over, your body is placed in the grave. Only eternal investments will follow you into eternity and there are no 2 ways about it. Therefore, in order to get the most out of life, your priorities around what matters most need to be rearranged. A life that focuses on temporary prizes will result in disappointment when the game is over. Life’s greatest fulfillment comes when you love God, love others, and nurture your own soul. As I have written in the Part 1 of my little composition, I have actually wined and dined with the rich and famous and have received awards from them. I am very fortunate to be in the position to decide whether to continue to be in the rat race or take a step back and reflect upon what humanity defines “success” as. As I grew older and hopefully more mature, I have decided to choose the latter and take things one-step at a time. Having the opportunity and access to many famous figures and many politicians around the globe made me really a proud and arrogant person at one stage but I am glad that I have made the decision to slow down and made me rethink what my priorities are in life. I do not want to win the rat race because eventually, even as a winner, you are still a rat. Dear brothers and sisters and friends, Today is the day you choose. With reference to the monopoly description above about life, you decide which game you want to win, which prize you want to collect & which priorities you want to set. Its a thrill to buy and own properties around Boardwalk and Park Place, buy a hotel, and hope someone hit the hotel before you went bankrupt... You sweep aside the other players and you own the board. In life, people consider it a thrill to win a promotion at work, buy the new house you wanted and splash cash on that glittering sports car you have always eyed. But just like the game cards, the paper money, and the timer, those prizes are temporary. Please remember one very important message, “when the game is over, they all go back in the box”. Games can cast a powerful spell but the wisest player remembers that the game is always going to end. So what can we take with us to the kingdom of God? Only the love we have for God, the love we have for each other, and our own souls. While its not bad to be good at chess or Risk---or the game of life on earth; we cant allow it to get in the way of what really matters. We tend to seek out worldly things, mistakenly thinking they will bring us fulfillment. But everything on Earth belongs to God. Everything we own is just on loan. What pleases God is often 180 degrees from what we may think is important. Right now, were playing our game of life on a giant board called a calendar. Time will always run out, so its a good thing to live a life that delights your Creator. Remember to seek the richness of being instead of the richness of having……at the end of the day, you cant beat the house. I will sign off this article with an awesome quote by Maya Angelou: “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.”
