I am deeply sad. I learned tonight that Cane, an amazing young dog, was put to sleep yesterday at Miami Dade Animal Services (MDAS) A friend volunteer walked him and spoiled him yesterday, then they saw him being walked by an employee and never came walk to his kennel in the west wing. I met Cane last week. I pet him thru the fence of his kennel. Man, was he a loving sweet boy! His kennel card said Cane A1651513 was an Americam bulldog boy, 3-years old, in shelter date Oct 9, available day for adoption Oct 15. There was a note in red ink that said friendly. I have been volunteering for MDAS since Feb 2014. Yet still I havent figured out what is their criteria to select what dogs to put to sleep (a nice way to say kill). If you know please tell me because I have no clue. This creates mixed feelings, and makes me think should I keep volunteering for them or not. I think I will continue because these animals need us. I am in tears now like if Cane was my own dog and he is gone forever. I am hurt. I hope the Rainbow Bridge truly exists and Cane is there running happy and free, safe and very much loved. I miss you Cane. Good bye my sweet boy. I am sure we will again.
