I am going to try and get this right but I believe there are times - TopicsExpress

I am going to try and get this right but I believe there are times during this recent event that I am not exactly sure of the event or time line. Sunday 3/9, I woke up early and was shivering some, didnt think much of it, it subsided and I went back to sleep. Got up later and didnt feel bad and went about the day. We are replacing the flooring throughout the house and worked on it some. About 4pm Staci left to go the store and probably 10 minutes later I began to shiver uncontrollably. I asked Taylor to call her mom. Staci was home a short time later and we tried to figure out what was going on. She took my temperature and I believe it was 103.6. We talked about our options, go to immediate care to see if it was the flu, go to the hospital here, Branson or Mt Home. Decided we would go to the emergency room here and left about 6pm. I wanted to take a shower, etc before we left. Here is where time lines and events are not completely clear to me. Our wait at the ER was not long (and they were very busy) and there appeared to be enough concern that they were pulling blood sitting in the hall to start getting it tested before a bed became available. I have for about 2 months been going to wound care 2x a week due to pressure sores resulting from my radiation 10 years ago and the oral chemo I have been taking. I was taken for a CT of my pelvis and around 1am moved to a room in the Critical Care Unit which I believe has replaced the ICU. Conversations were of infection of the blood from an abscess at my tailbone. Sepsis, I have heard of, but didnt know much about. What I do remember is Staci me more than once did I realize how serious this was. I was started on pain medicine and 3 different types of antibiotics Wednesday I had a debriding of the pressure sores, abscess area and my actual tailbone. Saturday 3/15 the doctors reported from the cultures from the infection there was no more staph in the blood, no infection remaining in the tailbone. They had also tested fluid from a hematoma from my initial surgery there were no signs of infection or cancer . Tuesday I was released from the hospital with a vac pump which promotes healing in the wound area. I am still on 3 types of antibiotics and a pain patch. God has also provided me with the most amazing nurse possible. Staci along with all other things she does for me now is administering one antibiotic daily through IV and pic line I have in place. Words cannot express our gratitude for the hospital and staff as the care far exceeded any expectations we had and most importantly thank you to all for your continued support and prayers. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
