I am hesitate to leave posts like this, but I am astounded by the idea that it takes bravery to not wear make-up. First and foremost, wearing or not wearing make-up has absolutely nothing to do with cancer or bringing awareness to the courageous men and women who are currently seeking treatments, in remission, or survivors. Second, wearing makeup is a deeply rooted social construct that pressures women and young girls to hid their flaws and become more beautiful. I too fall for societys pressures of fulfilling unrealistic standings of beauty, thus I understand why the no make-up selfie have taken over my news feed. However, displaying an unpainted face is not and should not be deemed as some great act of courage.
