I am not a Republican, I am a registered democrat since 1972. This is my opinion so if you want to disagree that is ok, but I am not going to listen if you want to argue or call me names. I have learned something from my cousin and a few others--they all have the same script and when the script is done, the last resort is calling me a racist. In the beginning that upset me, but it also helped me to try to be something they are not----------That is INFORMED. Being informed is hard because of the biases in the media (even fact check isnt always accurate). Since I have been called a racist, I have said I dont like Biden either so what does that make me? I get no response to that one. But for the record, I like Mr. Carson (not saying he will be a good candidate for president, that is really too soon to tell) so cut the crap about me being a racist! I dont support a party, I do support issues that I believe in regardless of what party. I cannot tell you how many years I was politically illiterate but I will say I try to be aware of things that are going on now. It is hard to get the truth (from either side). It is embarrassing to see the tactics the democrats use to win, while the American public unbeknownst to them, lose. I am beginning to see politicians as snake-oil salesmen pawning their product to an unsuspecting public. I could address Mr. Bush, but he had been bashed relentlessly even for the incompetence demonstrated in this administration. Amazingly when Obama was senator he opposed Bush, yet the very things he opposed, he is now guilty of, and I am not am not sure it hasnt crossed the line to treason. It is evident he doesnt love America. Let me refresh you to March 16, 2006 and the contrast (or should I refer as hypocritical) April 15, 2011: ********The fact that we are here today to debate raising Americas debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I, therefore, intend to oppose the effort to increase Americas debt. - Senator Barack Obama 16 March 2006 ********President Obama has undergone a change of position regarding raising the debt limit. In a 15 April 2011 Good Morning America interview, President Obama said this of his reasons for doing so: a. I think that its important to understand the vantage point of a senator versus the vantage point of a president. When youre a senator, traditionally whats happened is, this is always a lousy vote. Nobody likes to be tagged as having increased the debt limit — for the United States by a trillion dollars. As president, you start realizing, you know what, we, we cant play around with this stuff. This is the full faith and credit of the United States. And so that was just an example of a new senator making what is a political vote as opposed to doing what was important for the country. And Im the first one to acknowledge it. And take Pelosi, as example, when gas went up to 2.89 she was under a gas sign reminding the public how the cost of gas went up yet it is over 3 dollars and has been up to close to 4 dollars yet she doesnt come out of her mole hole. Now Harry Reid is trying to change the filibuster rules yet in his book The Good Fight in chapter 7 page 195. In 2005 he was upset that the then senate leader (2003-2007), Senator Frist (R) was going to change the rules of filibuster. He states (in Reids own words): Once you open that Pandoras Box, it is a matter of time before a senate leader who couldnt get his way on something moved to eliminate the filibuster for regular business as well. And that simply would be the end of the United States Senate. It is the genius of the founders...........was to protect the rights of the minority. A filibuster is the minoritys way of not allowing the majority to cut off debate, and without robust debate, the Senate is crippled. Reid wants to change the rules so that it would take only 51 votes, a simple majority, to break a filibuster. Now, it takes 60 votes to end debate. Now Reid calls it a new era ......Reid made clear that he had moved beyond making threats about the rule change that some senators believe could signal the end of the filibuster. He said he had simply run out of options. You can’t reward bad behavior over and over and over again,” Reid said. (Oh, really? Obviously you can if you are liberal) The filibuster is a valued tool of minority Senators to keep the majority from simply enacting everything it wants. It’s one of the major differences between the House and Senate, making the Senate the more deliberative chamber. ACLJ But don’t take our word for it—Reid and President Obama already made the case for keeping the filibuster and the 60-vote rule intact. They argued quite well for it when they were in the Senate minority. Obama said in 2005: *********What the American people don’t expect, is for one party (Republican or Democrat) to change the rules in the middle of the game so that they can make all the decisions while the other party is told to sit down and keep quiet…everyone in this chamber knows that if the majority chooses to end the filibuster—if they choose to change the rules and put an end to democratic debate—then the fighting and the bitterness and the gridlock will only get worse. Now Obama has signaled that he would support Reid’s changes because he says it is different than in 2005 (Why because in 2005 they were the minority and now they are the majority?). Reid argues that he just wants to pass Obama’s nominees for Cabinet positions and other agencies, and that the change would not apply to judges who enjoy lifelong appointments. Of course, once the filibuster is changed, it would be difficult to walk back the change. Why is it when Wendy Davis filibustered (known as the pro-choice filibuster) was praised but Ted Cruz who fight for the rights of those that disagree with democrats is crucified? The shut-down was really a planned tactic by the democrats to demonize the republicans and I hope more and more people are waking up. This is really not a fight between republicans/democrats - it is a fight to keep America free from elites that are trying to destroy America.
