I am not a patriot in the sense of the stereotypical American who will claim that we are the greatest nation ever without fault. This country has enslaved and institutionalized based on skin tone. This country has carelessly and even sadistically polluted the planet, while causing extinctions in the animal kingdom. What exactly does our freedom really amount to on a real level? Were living off of the foundation of a government optimized during the European colonization phases of the American continents. But weve produced such wonderful minds, free thinkers, storytellers, and innovators. Weve been able to transcend stereotypes, and have allowed reversals on some of our worst laws. Theres an abundance of hardworking, caring individuals driven to do better more often. Im glad to have been born in such a land because its given me the ability to really explore unique mind exercises and develop structures I believe will be able to change the future of this planet. Im often lonely and isolated, but I expect that to change as the world gets to know who I really am. We live in a unique era of global communication, and that will be key in developing a future global society committed to first and foremost the health of the planet. Without a healthy environment full of biodiversity, humanity can not continue to flourish or even survive. Without a full, institutional commitment to bettering people, we will continue to see a multitude of preventable and increasing social problems. Without the adherence to thousands of years old grudges, we can begin to transcend towards a place where the pursuit of happiness becomes a commonality. We can move beyond terrorism and world wars. The reality is that thus far weve lacked the ability to imagine and spread such an ideal until now. I am proud of the United States of America, and I am proud of the vision the founding fathers had when they went against the imperial grain. I say we no longer lack the imagination to move towards a better, real future.
