I am posting the second variation that company apprentice Alexis Bomer danced at QMPs Dances and Duos Fundraising event. This variation is from my ballet SCARLET WOMEN OF THE BIBLE: SALOME. Just a little back story: while at LRC, I started working on a ballet that would feature 4 of the most notorious women in biblical history: Eve, Delilah, Jezebel and Salome. The sections of Eve and Delilah were completed before I stepped down. However, I started working on Salome shortly before I left, and only got as far as choreographing Salomes variation. Unless one is familiar with the narrative of John the Baptist and the reason Salome danced this variation, then this piece wont make much sense. However, if one is familiar with that whole story, then one will understand that this variation is taken out of context, as any one of the leading ladies variations would be given the absence of the entire section. Ms. Bomer did an excellent job as Salome, and one day I hope to finish that section, although, by the time I get around to actually finishing the section, Ms. Bomer may have grown out of the role, as Salome is Ms. Bomers age now in the biblical narrative.
