I am saddened by the news that Ron Siwicki has been charged with criminal neglect in the death of his mother. I have known Ron and his family for almost 50 years, and the thought of someone as kind and compassionate as Ron being charged with a criminal offence is hard to accept. Furthermore, Ron being held at the Remand Centre is extremely cruel given the devotion to his mother after his father passed away in 1996, and even more recently when her health declined but she begged him to let her stay at home rather than be institutionalized. You should know that his only sibling, his sister Carol, passed away a couple of years ago which put even more pressure on Ron as a caregiver. I know that Ron suffered emotionally as he struggled to provide the kind of care his mother asked of him. Ron is not a threat to society and he should not be treated as a criminal. Stan Spak
