I am up to here with all the outrage and screams of animal abuser over Palins special needs son standing on his dog. This is a lab who lives with a special needs child and considers it part of its pack. This is not the first or last time it will be stepped on or laid on and news flash, it doesnt mind in the least. There are a thousand more pictures on Facebook of people doing horrid things to dogs but those dont get the same attention. I have cared for dogs that have had their ears chopped off, been hogtied and used as bait, had their growth stunted from being locked in a cage 24/7, or had their tongues cut clean in half. THEY deserved the attention and outpouring of support to find their abusers and bring them to justice, but instead they got a pat on the head and only a handful of true supporters. They got quite a few people though who complained that their photos were too graphic and shouldnt be on social media. It is high time we as a society stopped worrying so damn much about what might get our picture to go viral or get our name in the news. If you have time to scream abuser on Facebook you have time to get up off your ass and pressure our local governments for stiffer penalties for real animal abusers, the ones that live in your own neighborhood. For the record, I am not a Palin supporter. I am an animal rescuer. You want to make a REAL difference? Contact a local rescue and foster an animal in need. Or sponsor a spay/neuter surgery for ONE animal. Or next time you see that abuse photo that is too graphic, share it anyway. Take a stand and stop following the crowd.
