I am very humbled by the recognition and unexpected honor to be inducted into the Wisconsin High School Theatre Hall of Fame. It either means that I am old or dead, and while I think I might be one, I hope Im not both. I do know that I am very lucky and blessed to have worked with so many incredible students, staff, and families over the years. And the colleagues who I join in the state have left their mark on many communities throughout the state and have helped raise the level of high school theatre. Bravo. A few debts of gratitude for those who share this award.. my mother, Barb for her support and costume genius. My friend and partner at DHS, Bryn Van Beek..Im gone long ago without you. Thank you. My choreographer for the last 10 years, Michael Endter, wow and thank you. All of the other staff that have helped contribute to our students. I am grateful for my family, my dear wife Sheila for patience and understanding. My children, Amelia, Jeremy, and Addie for the time away from home and for being in the audience and now on stage. My dad, Coach Schaetzke for being my role model in the high school setting. Pride. I learned a lot about working with students, creating great theatre and great community from mentors like Chris Connell an Pete Martinez at North Central, and Alan Rust, Malcolm Morrison, Ron Anderson, Michael Johnson-Chase, and others in Milwaukee. I am grateful for Mike Maguire and Paul McInerny for hiring me and letting me fly. Judy Down, Jim Piatt, Eamonn OKeeffe, Ed Foy, and other friends and administrators for sharing our journey with our students. Many teachers and friends for sharing what it is to be in education. I am grateful for the incredible families and students who stood before us and said yes, entered the Little Theatre, took a chance, and helped us make incredible stories and adventures. For parent support and everything that our Booster Club does and the leadership. For every student who took a chance and shared their gifts with the world and us. So very grateful. So very proud. I am thankful to God for these gifts and am humbled to be a servant and instrument of His peace, His creativity, and the Gospel that says to not hide your light under a bushel, but let it shine.. The troubadour Lee Domain sings, Im only a river, Im not the one to praise...only a channel of the good and gentle rain.. Thats how I feel. Only a river. Glory to God. Thank you for all of your kind words. Hope to see you at a show soon. Jeff
