I am wondering if it would actually be possible to have an objective discussion about track and paddle size here? I probably know the answer but I am going to attempt it anyway. Why would anyone need more than a 1.75 or 2 paddle on a sled in the Northeast (ME, VT, NH) and anything longer than a 146? Is there legit reasons for this here in the east? Is it experience/desire related? I will give you all a glimpse of my situation, I have run a 121 - 128 X 1.75 paddle (snocross tracks) for the last 12 years. I have ridden with many crossover and mountain sled riders. Most of them are excellent, experienced riders. I consider myself an off trail rider, preferably mountains. I generally can go anywhere the longer and deeper paddle guys went but with much more effort and challenge...and fuel. Will I be compromising challenge for fuel economy going to a 153 2.6 track? Will it be boring, will I break the thing more because it is a consumer sled, not a race sled? Will I be trashing tracks more? What if I shaved the track? Or went 2.25 challenger? I think this is a legit discussion worth having. Can we try? Picture for attention only. Share your serious thoughts.
