I apologize for the poor quality. I was in a small boat and the bird was very back-lit. In the field I knew this was loon but had a moment or two where because it appeared thin, I almost thought cormorant. It did not seem to have the bulk of a common loon. There were common loons in the area but they were still in mostly summer plumage. Is this a winter red-throated loon? Or a winter common loon?
