I believe I still hold the record as the oldest COA undergraduate - TopicsExpress

I believe I still hold the record as the oldest COA undergraduate degree graduate. I used the 20 year plan, I started the Fall of 92 and took a break to finish again in 2012. I recommend just getting it done and go the straight 4 years and get on. I must say though I feel like COA will always hold that warm fuzzy feeling of a part of home in my heart forever. The first time I heard about COA was from a friend in Connecticut , a recent young widow who also herself died that following year from cancer in her 30s, they lived near the nuclear power plant near/in Moodus Connecticut. She had been working as a secretary at an insurance company which was where the brother of Mel Cote (one of many of the founders of COA) She told me what Mels brother was telling her about the school and how his brother had been a part of creating this school and how he believed liked she and I believed. She lived long enough to know I had moved to Maine and enrolled in school. My first semester was the best and worst of times... my best friend died, the next week my own mother past away at the same time my husband left me with 2 young kids to care for. I was able to find the support and strength to go 2.5 more years. I crashed and burned from not dealing with it all , so I took a couple sabbatical decades to regroup and then I graduated. Its been a year now since I got my degree. What has changed? the feeling of accomplishment and putting closure on major stepping stones so one can get going to where they need to better be! Happy Thanksgiving. I am grateful to be a COA alum
