I believe US PRESIDENT BARRACK OBAMA did the right thing over the release from prison of five perceived to be dangerous TERRORISTS in exchange of the release likewise of US ARMY SGT. BOWE BERGDHAL.The debate can be endless over the decision. Some fellow soldiers he was once with call BERGDHAL a deserter whose ( selfish act ) ended up costing the lives of better men. and politicians opposed to the idea are fearful that the five released TERRORISTS might resume terrorism activities when put back again in circulation. Im not actually privy to the surrounding circumstances that led to BERGDHALs captivity by the TALIBAN and I understand an on-going investigation is currently taking place. At this point in time, I still have to take things at face value until such time when a final and conclusive consensus shall have been reached. Meanwhile, the bottom line is an AMERICAN was being held captive by a terrorist group notorious for disregarding the value of human lives. There was a prevailing sense of urgency and the safety of BERGDAHL is imperative and an utmost priority. And speaking of POLITICAL WILL, and it is in this respect that I admire, in this case US PRESIDENT BARRACK OBAMA, people gifted with it. OBAMA did not succumb to pressure and did what to him, me and other people thought was necessary and appropriate. Theres nothing new in here. On JULY 21, 2004, a FILIPINO driver based in SAUDI ARABIA was released from captivity by an IRAQI INSURGENT GROUP who threatened to behead him if the PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT did not release 51 SOLDIERS and POLICE OFFICERS as members of its contingent in IRAQ. Pressures from ALLIES led by the US and other INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY members, as a matter of hard-line policy, alike mounted for the then PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT not to succumb to the demands of the INSURGENTS. Notwithstanding all these, the PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT, exercising a magnificent display of COURAGE and POLITICAL WILL, and despite top-level appeals from US officials that the troops remained, .ordered the withdrawal of the troops and the INSURGENTS made good of their promise to release the 46 – year old FILIPINO father of eight who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. There’s a striking similarity of events between what have transpired recently and that in JULY of 2004. Both leaders took into consideration the safety and valued the lives of their citizens over prestige, reputation, fame and the future of their political careers. The only contrasting difference is that the US PRESIDENT still enjoys the trust and confidence of majority of the AMERICANS while the other one is currently on spuriously devised and fraudulent charges is languishing in a dungeon frequented by people dressed in white linen smocks and ironically being guarded by members of a law – enforcing agency she once ordered withdrawn from that GOD – FORSAKEN land where law and order still up to now remains a DREAM. And what’s saddening is that this former HEAD of STATE is being accused by an incumbent female SENATOR perceived to be widely being groomed as a possible PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT in 2016 who, as a matter of course, sticks to the old line of having cheated his late father……in the same year that a precious life of a FILIPINO had been saved……
