I bit my lip and pulled the key from my pocket, letting it dangle - TopicsExpress

I bit my lip and pulled the key from my pocket, letting it dangle from my finger from the ribbon that was tied around it. It sparkled as the light hit it, making both Nickolas and Hunter jump to their feet. “Did it have anything to do with this? Do you know what this is?” Nickolas turned to Hunter, growling. “You were right! Why does she have that!?” “How should I know?” Hunter spat back, walking up to me. “Question is, why do you have it!” “How am I supposed to know?” I rolled my eyes, “I didn’t even know about it, my dad had it in his office!” “Right.” Hunter laughed. “Like I am supposed to believe that, Keeper!” I blinked before shoving the key back into my pocket. “What is a keeper?” I asked, looking over to his brother – he was staring at the floor. “You know exactly what a keeper is.” Hunter said. “Don’t play dumb!” “Who said anything about playing?” I snickered, turning away from them and walking toward the door. “You both have lost your minds.” Hunter cut me off, his hand quickly finding my neck. He was slowly cutting off my oxygen supply, sending me falling to my knees. My hands wrapped around his wrist and I fought for consciousness. Nickolas walked out of the kitchen, pushing Hunter away from me. I coughed to let the air flow back into my lungs, my eyes welling with tears. “Hunter, back off.” He said, turning to me. “Your parents, what do they do?” “My parents?” I coughed once more, before getting to my feet. “What do they have to do with –“ “Answer me!” “My dad is a lawyer, my mother is a homemaker. Why?” “Liar!” He shouted in my face, I could feet the breath smacking me right between the eyes. “Am not!” I protested, rubbing my throat. “Are to.” Nickolas walked up to me; our bodies’ just inches apart. I could feel his breath even more now, heating up my face. He placed his hands on my shoulders, looking down into my eyes. “I can see it.” “See it?” I blinked. “See what?” Hunter exhaled, walking up to the side of me. “My brother can kind of read minds.” “Your parents aren’t your real parents.” Nickolas added. “Tell the truth.” “I said I wasn’t lying.” I pulled away, turning around. “My parents are my real parents. My biological parents, however, I don’t know them. I was adopted.” Hunter gulped, and locked eyes with Nickolas. I turned back around to face them both, “You are not about to tell me your vampires, are you?” Nickolas laughed before Hunter shook his head. “Don’t be silly, vampires are not real.” I let out a sigh of relief. “Fairies, however,” Hunter added, smirking. “That is a different story.”
