I can hear rumbling again...what a glorious sound! A few spots on the patio roof audible too. Hope you all have an awesome weekend planned. Tell us what youre up to and how youre keeping your cool in this heat? Showers and chance of a storm is the predominant feature for Saturday so lets see what tomorrows weather has in store for you in our forecast region... ****************************************************** This is the Official Forecast for Saturday 23rd of November 2013 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. ****************************************************** Warnings current: - Severe Thunderstorm Warning (QLD). No update since 4.22pm at the time of posting... >> Please use this link for details of all current warnings in Qld. bom.gov.au/qld/warnings/index.shtml?ref=hdr ______________________________________________________ Weather Situation A weak monsoon flow exists about the Gulf of Carpentaria, with humid air flowing over northern districts and down into central and southeastern parts of the state to the east of a surface trough. An upper level trough lies over the states southwest, and is expected to strengthen as it gradually moves eastwards across the southern interior over the next few days. The humid airmass combined with the upper trough will result in very unstable conditions to the north and east of the surface trough. Forecast for the rest of Friday Partly cloud but fine over the southwest. Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the remainder. Light to moderate south to southeast winds over the southwest. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds elsewhere. Saturday 23 November Humid air should remain across much of the state ahead of a surface trough that will lie across the southern interior. The humid air will work with an upper level trough to produce at least scattered showers and thunderstorms across the central interior and the southeast districts, and some of those thunderstorms are likely to be severe. A weak monsoon trough over the Gulf of Carpentaria should produce areas of rain and scattered thunderstorms across the Peninsula district, and the rest of the state should receive scattered showers and thunderstorms except for the southern interior where it should be partly cloudy but fine. Light to moderate south to southeast winds over the southwest. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds elsewhere. Fire Danger - Very High over the southwest and southern interior. Sunday 24 November An increasingly deep flow of humid air over Cape York Peninsula and parts of the Gulf Country should produce monsoonal rain areas, scattered showers and thunderstorms. Scattered showers and thunderstorms over much of the remainder of the state ahead of a surface trough which should again lie across the southern interior. The southern interior should be fine and dry. Monday 25 November The monsoon trough may drift gradually southwards across far north Queensland, allowing monsoonal rain areas to possibly extend from the Gulf Country across to the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands, and to areas to the north. Scattered showers and thunderstorms from the northern interior across to the central coast and down to the southeast coast district, and fine and dry conditions about the southern interior. Tuesday 26 November The trough should extend from the northwest, across the tropical interior and south to the Fraser Island area with showers and thunderstorms contracting to its north. A drier airmass should dominate to the south of the trough bringing fine and partly cloudy conditions. The monsoon trough may remain over the far northern reaches of the state, and so rain areas and thunderstorms should continue across the far northern districts. ______________________________________________________ Forecast for the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands - Partly cloudy.
