I consider myself as one of the founder members of AAP despite - TopicsExpress

I consider myself as one of the founder members of AAP despite being based at Thane in Maharastra since my retirement on 31st August, 2008. I had been in touch with Mr. Arvind Kejariwal during my career ( and his career too in the Income Tax Department being his Colleague in his first field posting under my adminitrative supervision way back in 1995-96 ). I have been trying my level best to contact him frequently and he has been kind enough to drop at my brothers residence during my sickness in June,2013. I have joined AAP formally too at Thane to participate in the Crusade against Corruption in his leadership. I am now in touch with the ground level workers of AAP and listening to their views who feel equally strongly on various issues being confronted by the common men on the street. Yesterday in one of such meetings, issue regarding the nomenclature of AAP arose inviting very serious reservation about the word Aadami as it denotes the gender of the people participating in the movement. Good number of women participants were present who were feeling as having been excluded from the ordinary people as the term Aam Aadami refers to men in general to the extent of total exclusion of Aam Aurat from the people partcipating in the movement. References were made to the Interview of Mr. Kejariwal and the views expressed by him about his role perception of Khap Panchayat too which were held to be equipped with Talibani traits and unacceptable to the Indian people as such. I was just wondering as to whether any remedial steps could be taken at this stage while retaining the Identity of AAP and not compromising with the same in any manner. I was instantly reminded of the word Awam from which the names of Awami League of Bangla desh and also yet National Awami Party of Pakistan were apparently derived. I could see to myself that if the word Aadami is substitued by the word Awam henceforth, the party could retain its identity as AAP while inclusive of Men & Women in general without causing any heart burn to the women members of AAP. In fact i suggested in the meeting itself but the the District officials of AAP present in the meeting did not pay any heed to the same thinking perhaps that they are too small to discuss matters of such vital issues involving the nomenclature of the organisation on national level. This left yet another impression about the workers and their leaders at grass root levels of having the confidence to take note of the views of the people at the bottom levels. If this kind of attitude is allowed to continue, I will not be surprised if the inter mediary officials dont behave like sycophants as and when AAP comes up with the popular support in time to come. The middle rank heirarchy must take the criticism and note suggestion for transmission of the same to the national functionaries and the remedial steps, if so required, after due deliberations at appropriate levels at the earliest possible opportunity.
