I cracked the crock today...RIP! Oh wait do not forget your ol friend Reynolds Wrap it got me out of a dinner pinch and saved the BBQ Pork I made for dinner but after reading the following warnings about if it is safe to use a cracked crock pot it is a miracle I lived to tell the tale: Answers: No, because under heat the crack could spread causing liquid to come in contact with the heating element and electrocute you. No, because the heat that surrounds the pot needs a smooth, uninterrupted surface on which to distribute. You risk explosion with continued use. Its really not safe. Changes in temperature could cause it to break at the cracks. Also, bacteria is hard to clean out of the cracks, leading to food poisoning. If it has a crack, it has a leak. Anything that leaks out of that pot is a potential fire hazard.
