I cringe when I hear the word nonnegotiable. I get a visual of a hand in the face. It sounds like because I told you so, end of discussion. It makes me feel that I am thought to be valued less than the speaker, that I have no thoughts of any consequence, and that any experience that I may have had, or ideas for improvement will be even considered. Whether or not I agree with the thing that is nonnegotiable becomes of less value to me than the knowledge that I am being put down, and put in my place. It is a word, I hope I do not use.
