I decided to share my favorite picture of Locklyn Guzman and I - TopicsExpress

I decided to share my favorite picture of Locklyn Guzman and I with our Lars boy! This was Lars at his very first show ever ,the National ,when he was 6 months old on the dot! He made the cut out of a very large and competitive class with me showing him! (Locklyn made the cut and this was us in the middle waiting LOL) Anyway, for those who know I have waited a very long and I wish I could say patient time for a great Sheltie and well, being that Shelties are a hard breed in general its taken a while. With the guidance, trust, mentoring, patience and support from Locklyn, I am finally there! I also owe a huge thank you to Barbara Vann Barbara Aulbach and Jan Williams who have also entrusted me with dogs in the past and encouraged me on my journey along with Locklyn and the rest of the Sheltie community ( cant forget my dearest Sheltie Sister Jen Clohessy) have not allowed me to give up on the breed. When Locklyn told me she was going to breed Tahiti ( Aruba Daughter ) to Sketch, I told her I NEED a puppy from that...please please please ... I bugged her every inch of the way thru breeding, Tahitis pregnancy and whelping. When they were 3 weeks old, we stayed with Locklyn for a show and there he was. the sweet and charming boy I was waiting for. Just knew it was meant to be! By this time, I knew the drill good things come with patience and good Shelties take time. So we let him be a family dog and Collie dictator while he grew up to his potential and even though he has not reached his full potential Locklyn and I decided he need to come out for some show training since we had not shown him and he is a year and a half. To be honest I never really trained him because I was so afraid something would go wrong and he would not turn out. So I let him be a dog all this time until recently when I started taking him to handling class once every 2 weeks and Locklyn entered him in some shows.. Well, the first set of shows what does he do? Back to Back WD/BOW 5pt. Majors! WOW! Under Mr. Carl and Mrs. Patti Skinner. Just WOW. I am so thrilled! Locklyn drew it out long and slow and painful over the phone and had me in tears! I just could not believe it. What a weekend and I can not Thank her enough and today I really want to Thank Debbie for taking him back into WD! Wow...that is all I can say...WOW! I am so grateful. To me this is a really big deal. I am so excited. Mr. Lars we are so proud of you and love you so much and Alicia told me tonight he needs lots of cookies and a new toy. She told me I was to take him shopping this weekend! At the end of the day its moments like this that remind me why we do this.....
