I did my pretty low level microbiology in the early 1980s and then and earlier, I possessed a microscope. So I am stunned! How can anybody deny the existence of bio-films in the human body? One of the things we learned way back then was that many bacteria are specialists, they produce one or 2 enzymes, send them out into the world to break down some food and require other bacteria to make the other enzymes to break the food down completely. That is where quorum sensing comes in. Think about it, what is the point of quorum sensing (bacteria communicating with other species of bacteria! by way of chemical signals) if they do not live in a biofilm community? Also, that film of white goo on your teeth? grab a microscope and look at it. What do you see? Gazillions of different types of microbes living TOGETHER! What the hell do people think that plaques on arteries are? It is goo with evil bugs living in it. The guys who promote the idea that biofilms do not exist in the human body should not be working in science. lymedisease.org/news/hardscienceonlyme/the-rest-of-the-story-trials-and-tribulations-of-getting-borrelia-biofilms-acccepted-for-publication.html
