I do not know of a time in my lifetime when more false doctrine is - TopicsExpress

I do not know of a time in my lifetime when more false doctrine is making the rounds than right now. The reason is obvious, advances in communication. Anyone can create a Youtube channel and spread whatever they want. As the church, lets not be more generous in our treatment of those who spread false doctrines that can lead people astray than the Apostle Paul. Granted, this does not include differences over secondary doctrines like how to baptize or how often to have Communion. We have to be willing to challenge those who teach doctrines that detract from or add to the Gospel or the Kerygma. The Kerygma was an outline of the Gospel that was standard in early presentations of the Gospel. The components included: 1. God was the creator 2. Humanity is separated from the Creator due to sin 3. Humanity cannot restore a relationship with God through human effort 4. Faith in the sacrificial death and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ is the only way to be restored in a relationship with God. 5. We can contribute to fulfilling the Creation Mandate by spreading Gods influence in every part of our lives. Any doctrine that diminishes reduces God to only caring about my happiness and comfort is a false gospel. Any gospel that overlooks sin is a false gospel. Any gospel that diminishes the need for spiritual regeneration in Christ is a false gospel. How did Paul respond to these teachers and preachers? 6 I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who in his love and mercy called you to share the eternal life he gives through Christ. You are already following a different way 7 that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who twist and change the truth concerning Christ. 8 Let Gods curse fall on anyone, including myself, who preaches any other message than the one we told you about. Even if an angel comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed. 9 I will say it again: If anyone preaches any other gospel than the one you welcomed, let Gods curse fall upon that person. 10 Obviously, Im not trying to be a people pleaser! No, I am trying to please God. If I were still trying to please people, I would not be Christs servant. (Galatians 1: 6-10) Its not love that prompts us to bypass truth. True love rejoices in the truth (1 Corinthians 13).
