I dont know how many of you - my friends & loved ones - are reading or getting the gist of all of my hundreds of posts about The Met ... but we are in a serious situation of shutting down come the end of this week. Management is threatening (declared) they will Lock us out if we dont give in to their disastrous cuts. Negotiations with 16 different Unions continue this week - with a deadline of Thursday night - but an agreement seems unlikely. The trickle down affect this will have on so many other arts institutions and peoples lives will be devastating. Not to mention to Culture (Music, Arts, Dance, Theater) in general. Not just a tragedy for the 2,000+ employees at The Met but worldwide. If any of you would be so inclined to write a note, send an email, or call The Met, the Mayor of NYC, or even the Whitehouse (yes, the President!) to show your dismay at losing this great institution - it would be greatly appreciated.
