I dont know how this escaped my attention. HB 5941, introduced by State Representative Tom McMillin last Wednesday, would amend sec. 200 of the Michigan Election Law to specify that the county clerk, treasurer, register of deeds, prosecuting attorney, sheriff, drain commissioner, and surveyor would be elected in gubernatorial years (i.e., 2018) in counties with a population of 1,000,000 or more that have adopted an optional unified form of county government under MCL 45.551 et seq. (currently only Oakland County). At present, all of these officers are elected in presidential years (i.e., 2016). MCL 168.200(1).
