I dont usually do this, but I will post the prologue to my new short story for my Facebook readers a day before I post it on my website : Búri : The Beginning Of The Golden Age Prologue Odin was a wise being. A God to the Midgardians, king to his people, and a loving and caring father to his children. Many called him All- Father, which aptly honored him as the father to many races. But even the great and powerful Odin had a father, Borr, and a grandfather, Búri. Odin proudly looked ahead to the future of his people, and his kingdom. Out of a wilderness, Odin and his family were beginning to build a beautiful realm. A golden realm. Yes, the future was looking very bright for the Aesir Gods, but Odin was wise enough to realize that his people must never forget their past. That is why Odin became concerned when Búri began to refuse to eat Idunn s golden apples. The first of the Aesir line had told Idunn that he had lived long enough and wished to die, as all natural things do. Idunn, in a state of panic, and out of a sense of duty, immediately told Odin. Odin respected his grandfathers decision. He could understand and sympathize with the weariness of a being who was born so many eons ago that no one knew the true length of time that had passed. Odin, however, feared that the great knowledge of these early times would be lost forever when his grandfather passed. The All- Father, as always, had a plan to learn and preserve this ancient knowledge, and at the same time pass it down to his sons, and his people. Odin invited his grandfather Búri, his father Borr, and his mother Bestla, to a great feast at his newly finished golden hall. Borr and Bestla were more than happy to accept the invitation, but Búri felt uncomfortable inside the congested claustrophobic world of the realm called Asgard. He had been born and lived his whole life in the wilderness, and he preferred the solitude of open spaces. Asgard did, however, hold two of the most precious things in Búri s life. They were his two grandsons, Thor and Balder ! Because Odin promised him that his grandsons would spend the whole day with him, Búri reluctantly agreed to come to Asgard for the feast. - Glenn Bergen, ( Ravensheart ), © Copyright, 2014.
