I feel bad when everyone keeps asking me why I havent decorated my door for Halloween yet. Its not going to be decorated as were just too busy right now with an even bigger project and its upcoming deadline. The day before Halloween the Jr. K class is setting up a Country Store outside on the sidewalk in front of the office. Were selling (for fun and math skills) paper bag pumpkins, Fall and Halloween wreaths, squirrel food, and even baked goods from my bread machine. And its never too late in the season for lemonade! All at the same time while were busy on our production line, were doing PALS testing and of course Im carrying out our normal preschool academics. Today,after our field trip to Jeter Farm, we studied our sprouted beans and learned about seed coats, roots, and Cotyledons (little suitcases full of food) :) Everyone today took part in their first real biology/botany dissection using sprouted seeds. Yesterday we spent an actual hour reading a book about planting and harvesting beans, berries, and apples. Using the overhead projector we drew pictures of plants and after rolling the dice, every child counted out the dots and drew on the appropriate fruits, berries, or vegetables. They were so excited to see their drawings on the wall! The day before that we worked on our handwriting by using my computer generated worksheets featuring their names printed out in little dots for tracing. And now its time to start planning our big Halloween party with food and of course the accompanying games, prizes and costume wearing. Oh, and were also busy with our song practice for next months program that all the moms and dads are invited to come and watch. Then comes the Tanglewood Mall Christams program. So its not that Im not in the Halloween spirit because my door isnt decorated. Im just a tad bit busy right now :)
