I feel that that repulsive big blowhard (and Im not referring to his physical size), Michael Moore, is correct when he criticizes political leaders who have, essentially, sold out their (non-corporate) support base. Obama gets called everything from a Socialist to a Communist to an outright Nazi, and the government comes to a screeching halt just because hes in office. And yet--as Michael Moore points out--things have gotten done on Obamas watch that one might imagine would have gladdened the blackest hearts of the Not-So-Grand Old Party. In a similar vein, Clinton made the numbers look good on paper by giving Big Business too much leeway to crash the economy through speculation, and what did he get for his trouble? He was impeached for the very sort of sleazy personal behavior that many powerful men have always perceived as being their due. (Ironically, in the end, Clinton remained in power and the GOP lost two of their top men over morals issues.) What it all boils down to is that--at least at the national level (things may be better locally)--we have a choice of two political parties: Bad and Worse. (Which party is which depends on your personal politics.)
