I finally got my hands on the document (edict) issued by the Hardin County school supt supposedly banning guns in cars on school property. It doesnt. If you read the first few words of the document, Except where expressly and specifically permitted by Kentucky Revised Statute, the carrying, bringing, using, or possessing any weapon or dangerous instrument in any school building, on school grounds, in any school vehicle or at any school-sponsored activity is prohibited. So they are saying that unless you are legally entitled to possess a firearm in your vehicle as is every law abiding citizen 21 years or older, you cant have one in your car. In other words, they are saying exactly nothing. At least two different KRSs expressly and specifically give any law abiding citizen age 21 or older the right to have a firearm in their own vehicle, and they even provide redress if any level of government other than the General Assembly makes any law or regulation tampering with that right. You ARE entitled to have a firearm in your vehicle anywhere other than Federal property and some confinement parking lots, with or without a concealed carry license as long as it remains in the vehicle or is not brandished.
