I get so tired of the Its all about me mentality that seems to - TopicsExpress

I get so tired of the Its all about me mentality that seems to pervade our society these days. Mind if I blow off some steam? First I drive 30 minutes out to a league doubles tennis match that has been scheduled for 4 weeks. The name of the club has been posted repeatedly, even as recently at 8:00 this morning when our captain texted us all to say we were still on, rain threat or not. At our starting time, 9:00, my opponents are there. I am there. But my partner doesnt show up. She is not my regular partner - we were teamed together just for today. Twenty-five minutes later, she appears but its too late. The rules state we forfeit the match after 20 minutes. She sorta laughs and says, Oh, sorry. I went to the wrong club and took a nap in my car. By the time I realized my mistake, it was too late. Are you kidding me? Then she says, Its the first time Ive ever done that. But I know for a fact this is not true. I was on her team two years ago when she carelessly did the very same thing. It was because of her our team lost the match. I decide not to say anything. Im afraid it would come out extremely snarky and would probably just make things worse. Then Im driving home and stop for gas. The bushy-bearded geezer in front of me stops his beat-up pickup-up TEN FEET from the curb, opens his door and walks away (leaving the door wide open), weaves through all the gas pump traffic like its not even there, and sashays into the store. He has effectively blocked the traffic lane so there we all sit until he finally moseys back out, oblivious to the rest of the world, and takes his time pulling away. If he was really old, I could overlook it better, but he wasnt. So now Im fit to be tied. I need to BARF. If you read my books, you know what that means. Please pray for me before I start looking for something to kick.
