I get to present to some fellow dietitian peers on insulin pumps - TopicsExpress

I get to present to some fellow dietitian peers on insulin pumps next week. As part of this I also get to present my biography... heres a snippet: I’ve had DM1 for 20+ years. I always knew I wanted to be in the diabetes field for my career. I actually went to Texas A&M for a genetics degree in hopes of doing research for DM. I quickly changed my mind after taking my first nutrition class as I figured out I’d rather work with people than rats. My love for nutrition grew as I took more & more nutrition classes. I quickly figured out I wanted to become a dietitian & work in the diabetes field. After 7 years of training (undergrad, dietetic internship, & on-the-job diabetes training) I finally got all those letters behind my name. But it’s been worth it. I love working in the nutrition & diabetes field. I truly believe education is the key to success … along with application of that education. I’ve seen it in my own life but also in my clients. I’m living proof that diabetes will not control me. There are easy days & some less so, but I’m in charge of controlling my diabetes! Folks, I really do care about YOU & your nutrition & your diabetes control! Really, I do!
