I got a call from a person who was trying to find help for a hit - TopicsExpress

I got a call from a person who was trying to find help for a hit and run dog. The kind hearted man has picked up the dog, and taken it to Dr.Patils clinic in Vashi, in his absence an assistant has attended to the dog. And what does he do? There was visible fracture, and bruises too. The doc has applied an ointment and told the rescuer that he will have to take it elsewhere for treatment of the broken bone and that it would cost him about 20,000 rupees to get the dog treated. Now, what kind of a doctor would do this? In my experience, most visible fractures dont even need an X-ray. Quick plastering of the point, a relaxant and pain killer should have given the dog instant help. Instead, the vet has infused fear in the rescuer, made the situation look hopeless and almost made him abandon the dog! Given him no direction, no advice, just packed him off! Fortunately the man didnt give up, after a series of calls ended up talking to me, and the dog is now being attended to. This is not the first time that Im hearing of Dr.Patils team according this kind of a white collar approach to strays. I have seen it myself and stopped going there. Not only is he not prone to treating strays, but does enough to dissuade more people from participating in such acts of kindness! Normal practise would have been to write a post with hidden messages like a popular well experienced doctor in a suburb of Navi Mumbai....! To hell with diplomacy and courtesy. Its time to be honest and open. Irresponsible behaviour should neither be tolerated, nor hidden.
