I grew up in Whitesville, went to the old Whitesville Elementary - TopicsExpress

I grew up in Whitesville, went to the old Whitesville Elementary School, grades 1-6 (how did I ever make it this far in life without going to Kindergarten - oh, my?), DCJHS for grades 7-9, and then was a graduate of DCHS 76, so we mostly had to drive the 12 miles or so to town, Owensboro, to do major shopping and other errands. I took piano lessons from Cleo Faye Holmes, who lived with her daughter and her husband (Mr. and Mrs. Julius Jagoe), on Roosevelt Road, off of Griffith Avenue. I also remember Tilford Toys that was nearby off of Parrish Avenue in the shopping center - a special treat to go there!!! I also remember that the shopping center had a Norge Laundromat. Down Parrish Avenue toward Frederica was the Sir Beef...yummy!!! In Jr. High & High School, before we could drive, parents would drop us off at the Sportscenter Ice Rink... still remember my blue pea coat that I wore that was so in style back then...Great memories... that was in the late 60s and early 70s!!! Thankful!!!
