I grew up thinking Science Fiction books where a big deal, - TopicsExpress

I grew up thinking Science Fiction books where a big deal, especially when Star Wars first came out. It was like most of the world read Science Fiction. Now, if you look on a forum like Goodreads, you find that Science Fictions share of books is microscopic. Especially when you focus on books that require some understanding of science or abstract ideas. And it seems that people rarely read for those two things, preferring that Science Fiction or Fantasy be more of a backdrop for a traditional story. I find it extremely sad that basically people dont dream much any more and dont want to learn about the physical nature of the world they live in. They want TV on paper for the most part (most not every person)
