I had a discussion with a police officer over why they hide so - TopicsExpress

I had a discussion with a police officer over why they hide so they can catch people speeding. His reply, We are trying to slow people down. I then asked him, if that were the case, would it not work better if officers were highly visible; because drivers do slow down when they see a patrol car? He said that their methods work. I then asked if the whole thing was more about generating revenue than it was about changing behaviors? Because if everyone began driving the posted speed limits, what would that do to local and state budgets? He then politely excused himself from the conversation. What are your thoughts? BTW. My young daughter made the random comment, as we passed a traffic stop by an unmarked police car, that the police cars look like they are trying to get you, not help you! ---Alan Wing---
