I had a group of guests at work today deny my service and tell me how gross of a person I was because they assumed I spat in their food. They assumed this because one of the guests is a cook for another restaurant where the cooks spit in customers food. (I didnt spit in their food, by the way). The best part, they played the race card on me. They claimed that it has always been hard for people of color like themselves to get good service at restaurants. oh boy. a) I treat all of my guests the same. Great customer service is my #1 priority due to the fact that my pay pretty much relies on whether I am a good server or not. My service doesnt change based on your skin color. b) Why would you complain about me based on your delusional assumptions? Just because you like to spit in peoples food does not mean that I do. You are crazy. No, I have way more class than to sink down to your level and deliberately spit in your food. Thats disgusting that people even think about doing that. c) PEOPLE OF COLOR?!?! OH YEAH BECAUSE IM OBVIOUSLY NOT A PERSON OF COLOR, TOO?!?!! You idiot. Dont try to pull the race card on me. Dont blame poor service on your skin color. Your color has nothing to do with you being a poopy person. You being a poopy person has everything to do with you being a poopy person. d) Why do you even bother to eat out at restaurants? Go home. Just go home. I love my job, I love serving people who understand that I too, am an actual functioning, human being who has feelings, aspirations, and a conscience. Dont treat your server like theyre some kind of butt-wiping robot. Its really an easy concept. Im here to serve you, listen to how your day went, joke with you, entertain your 6 children, keep your beverages full, and clean up after you. I dont mind doing any of this one bit if you treat me like a friend. Rant over.
