I had a thought, and I wondered if anyone has ever tried it- Using a float switch, like in the back of a conventional toilet, to monitor and auto-fill water troughs for animals? Considering how it works, if the water level gets below your manually set level, the float should drop down, activating a switch to fill the trough back up until the float rises. Anyone tried this? Have feedback why it would/would not work? Any ideas how to make it work in the winter?
