I had an incident today that I just have to share. If for no other reason than to inspire kindness in someone! :) Chad and I decided recently to scale back Christmas presents this year in favor of teaching about giving of our time and ourselves rather than spoiling ourselves with presents. We have really been struggling though with what exactly to do because we are not the richie riches. With this on my brain, suddenly out of nowhere today an opportunity presented itself! I was driving down a lane in a parking lot to get a drink when a truck nearly hit me. Like in a scary kind of way. It seemed that the driver wasnt paying attention at all to where he was going or what was in his path! Rather than get angry I took a few big deep breaths and continued over to the drive thru. Thats when I noticed the truck was behind me. When I rolled down my window to order I could very clearly hear the people in the truck screaming at each other! They were having some kind of huge fight. A husband and a wife, I am sure. I couldnt tell what they were fighting about but they were screaming all sorts of hysterical rants at one another. Then it hit me!! They need kindness! Pay for their order! I have been in the middle of those chains of paying it forward a few times, and always buy for the person behind me but I havent ever started one. What a perfect opportunity to show someone love when they really need it. I dont need to know what their problem was or what they were fighting about. I just hope that little kindness was enough to make them smile for a minute. Maybe they paid it forward too! And I rode home on the high being the person that instead of cussing or flipping the bird at someone that nearly caused an accident with me, I bought their lunch. :)
