I had my fifth treatment on Thursday. It was a new chemo so wanted to wait until I knew the side effects I would have before I posted any updates. I received Benadryl through IV to thwart any reactions to this chemo and it worked- no reactions but very sleepy during my treatment. Another side effect is bone pain, and unfortunately I have experienced this one. My joints were just achy Saturday but all Saturday night and Sunday I experienced severe bone pain ( if you had what my mom called growing pains you know what I felt). The most severe pain was contained in my knees to my feet. I wanted to crawl out of my skin. Thankfully today, Im pain free! I took Allegra (what was suggested and yes the sinus medicine) to help with the pain. It has worked along with much Tylenol and will start taking the Allegra the day before my next treatment. Ive learned to focus on the blessings in the midst of a storm, and I have received an enormous flood of blessings since I shared my diagnosis!!! My parents have been so incredible. They have come over many nights or the boys and I have gone there to eat. They have helped me in so many countless ways that I could never repay. My brother and sister in law, thanks for making wig shopping fun and for making bald jokes- the laughter is so good for my soul. Youve both done countless things as well that I could never repay. I have also had the most wonderful dinners brought to me- I know some incredible cooks now. My three boys (especially Cole and Garrett) have become such responsible young men around the house- I love them to the moon and back. Furthermore, I have friends whove come visited with me during my treatments and my incredible teacher friends have worn pink to school on the Fridays after my treatments. The students are even wearing pink with them- Ive cried a little each Friday seeing all of the pink. Students have brought me gifts, some have prayed for me in class, and have had their families pray for me. I have been blessed with 140 of the most loving students this year and its a great focus - besides my own three children they are the reason why Im back at school the very next day after my treatment. So many friends have sent texts, called, mailed cards, sent gifts in the mail, and delivered beautiful flowers. And all my prayer warriors (some I dont even know), your prayers are working. Before this treatment when my oncologist examined my tumor, things are even softer than before. Dr. Bhat was smiling because she could push all the way to my rib and feel NO tumor!! Treatment #5 in the books, only 3 more to go!!!!!
