I had some fun yesterday when I shut down with my mini in couva, the mini suddenly cut of, tumbling and will not start, 3/4 tank of gas, current at the plugs and the electric fuel pump working,after a short time she start and cut off again. I sat in the car and hit the search button in my brain, after scooping the situation in my human hard drive I observed the electrical fuel pump normally goes TIC TIC TIC but this time it was sounding like TIC ATTACK TIC ATTACK, thanks to past experience I figured the fuel pump is having a heart attack from clogged arteries, I pulled the fuel line off and saw no gas was pumping in front (although the tank have gas and you could hear the electric fuel pump working) At that moment Rohan and family pulled up on the side all neatly dressed for church and said Hey what wrong I smiled and said I have a choked filter but I will get one from the parts place across the road, you guys go ahead, I then pulled the gas line before the gas filter and there were no gas there either, I then sit back and hit the search button in my brain again, I remembered the electric fuel pump have a filter in it, at this time a few more people who happened to be Admirers of the mini stopped to query and lend support. One guy asked if I needed any tools borrowed so I said it was OK I have the required tools for the job.here are the tools I gathered for the job: 1) left side front mat, 2) right side front mat, 3) pen 4) flat screw driver. I removed the pen barrel and stuffed the inside with some paper, I then spread my mats at the back of the can and removed the inlet line to the pump and plugged it off with the tapered side of the pen barrel, I then unscrew the back cover of the pump removing the little gas filter and spring, replaced the filter cover and inlet gas line.I then placed back my mats in the car and re assemble my pen and sat in the car and turned on the ignition listening to the sound of the fuel pump now going TIC TIC TIC, now all of this was done in front of a live audience in less than five minutes, I then start and give it a few revs accompanied by a round of applause from the growing audience, I then buckled my four point harness seat belt and launched away with a loud applause from my audience, ahhh, That was fun LOL. :)
