I had someone ask me this weekend why they needed to attend a recovery meeting if they didnt have an addiction. My response is always the same whenever Im asked this. Because everyone has something they struggle with. Another famous question Ive been asked is how long I have to go to those meetings. My response, until addictions and bad habits are conquered in Minnesota. See, everyday there is an image in my head and I hope this image will plant itself into so many: a wall. A huge wall that is separating people. On one side are people who dont know Jesus and the freedom he offers. They wont even consider a recovery group. But they are screaming help me. On the other side is a cross where there are less people, but they are trying their hardest to walk in truth. My calling is to reach my arm over the wall and grab as many as I can. Metaphorically, maybe this is the gates of hell...?? So whats the point? I guess its to say that I hope that people who know about recovery, the great meetings that are out there (Im biased of course), the freedom that Jesus offers, would do everything and anything they can to get the people over the wall. Get them to Jesus. Get them to a meeting. Have a personal goal to fill the seats at meeting places with people who need help. All in all this is the ultimate goal of recovery. Im on a mission. Id like you to join me. Id be honored to sit in a recovery meeting with you and talk about a solution to problems. Id love to meet someone brand new this week and every week of 2014 who needs hope and freedom in Christ. But its all of our jobs to go get em. - PBR
