I had the honor and privilege of being the guest speaker at the 3rd Infantry Division Ball last evening. I was humbled to address MG Murray and about 900 attendees, reminding all what has made this Division great -- its people! Since WWI, the Marne Division has been the Rock of our Army, fighting on all fronts in WWII, defending Seoul during the Korean War, and leading the way into Baghdad in 2003 -- and these are just a few examples of the numerous contributions of this Division. In the coming days, the 3rd Infantry Division will assume Command and responsibility of operations in Afghanistan, and lead us into Operation Resolute Support. I know that MG Murray and his team will add to the already rich legacy and history of this tremendous Division, and we at CENTCOM are proud to have the Dog Faced Soldiers on our team! Rock of the Marne!
