I had this really long rant about the state of the Royals that I wanted to drop today, but I don’t think I am going to do it. They obviously do not really care and have no intention of fixing the glaring issues that have been dragging them down for decades. At this point I honestly can’t understand how anyone can bring themselves to care about them. They are my favorite team, I grew up loving baseball and still do, but until the real problems are addressed, there is no sense in getting angry about them embarrassing themselves. I could mention that Wil Myers, the guy everyone wanted to trade because he had never produced at the Major League level, now has the same number of Runs Batted In in just about a third of the at bats our “Can’t Miss”, fat, arrogant third baseman has. I could also mention the fact that the “Win Now” package that we received for Myers and several other prospects that have never produced at the Major League level have a combined 4.33 Earned Run Average and a 1.46 Walks/Hits per Innings Pitched. These are bad numbers, not necessarily atrocious, but bad…bad enough to laugh at anyone clueless enough to claim these are additions to a team that has developed a “Win Now” mentality. The atrocious numbers are what Wade Davi(e)s has. Check them yourself and if you still believe that Tampa is so dumb, tell me why they would not let him anywhere near their rotation…yet with these winners, he is handed the #4 starting pitcher job the day the trade is made and there is zero competition that he has to face coming into the season. I could also mention that this team could not hit last year and is hitting even worse this year and it was all Kevin Seitzer’s fault…or at least that is what Ned Yost will tell you. I could mention that everyone around baseball before the season would have told you because of the pitching, the Royals are a more talented team than the Cleveland Indians, yet with a real leader they have figured out a way to rebuild their team into a contender for the division in 1 year. No…not 30 years…1 year. I could mention that Dayton Moore said when he was hired that this was a 4-6 year rebuilding process and just last week he was quoted as saying it is an 8-10 year process. He needs 10 years to maybe get this organization back to respectability. I could also mention how laughable that is. I could mention how after last night’s game, Ned Yost said he was not nervous in the least when the tying run was on 3rd base with nobody out because he just knew “Hollie” would get out of it. I could mention that this statement screams that you are either A) a bleeding moron not paying attention to the game or B) you are an arrogant, overconfident ass that cannot answer a straight question with an honest and straight answer. I could mention that “6 teams have expressed interest in Ervin Santana (a free agent to be)” and Dayton Moore says they have no interest in trading him because they are not out of it yet. I could mention these things and so much more I could write a book about how not to run a Major League Baseball team, but it wouldn’t matter. So I won’t mention any of it. I will mention one thing though. The owner lives in Arkansas and makes money hand over fist on this team and has a beautiful renovated stadium that the tax payers are paying for because he blackmailed the City into approving said renovations. Until this situation changes, there is no hope. I respect all the “True Fans” too much to call you all morons, so I won’t mention that. Keep going and keep giving them your money and keep buying into the line each season when they tell you they are in “Win Now” mode even though they deal off the parts they should hold tightly on to in order to develop a winning organization for many years to come.
