I have 2 fond memories playing Georgia on my mind in my single - TopicsExpress

I have 2 fond memories playing Georgia on my mind in my single year (91) with Spirit. Alan Armstrong First was during winter rehearsals, we marched in the MLK parade in Atlanta. Had a couple, shall we say College Bands doing their thang on the street in front of us while we were taking a break during warm-ups. Mike brought us to attention, we played Georgia, they stopped what they were doing and let us finish. I dont think they played near us again. They couldnt hear themselves over us. Second was somewhere on tour. Probably the only night we saw BD anywhere on tour except regionals. At that time, for you youngsters, we usually had a full retreat every night. We would play a musical selection, and ours was usually Georgia. If I remember correctly, we were next to BD in retreat. Had a kid come up to me and I think Chris Schroder after retreat. We had just got 3 valve bugles and were comparing ours to theirs. He said, Man you guys were LOUD!! Proud moment for a rookie horn member that got a semi-finalist patch that year. Still brings a smile to my face. I would like to share this short video of my son. He spontaneously started singing along with Michael Terrys video of the Corps playing. Had to share. For those of you who knew Jim, I am so sorry for your loss. I missed that opportunity by a few years. But always remember he lives on in us and those we pass it along to. Thank you for sharing.
