I have a question, and I value brutal honesty, even if I dont want to hear it. Branden was officially diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. While I dont see this as a coddle my kid in a bubble and hand out zero consequences type disability, I am learning that he needs his daily everythings presented in a different way. Branden has hated pretty much all food since he was weened off of baby food. hes a fruits and veggies guy, with a few other exceptions. He is healthy and growing, so its a battle not worth pushing. He refused to eat his school lunch, and the cafeteria aide made him stand against the wall instead of playing at recess. Michael and I see this as unfair and completely out of line. Thoughts, please? We have an IEP coming up on 4.23.14, and there are so many topics I want to cover in his defense. The school (and most especially his teacher) seem to think his behaviors are more of a character defect than spectrum disorder difficulties. What do I do? How do I defend him? he HATES his school now, and thinks everyone hates him there. This is NOT common thinking for Branden. And for him to open up daily to share his frustrations means it is HUGE to him. Im so annoyed with these people.
