I have been attending, serving and leading water committees, organizations and governmental entities meetings since 1983. The Indian Wells Valley Groundwater Management Group has been instrumental in seeking, working on and coordinating information for many, many years. It has been operating a COOPERATIVE Groundwater Plan for a long time. It is comprised of Indian Wells Valley Water District. the Navy, Searles Valley Minerals, Inyokern Community Services District, Indian Wells Valley Airport District, City of Ridgecrest, Eastern Kern County Resource Conservation District, Kern County Water Agency, Kern County, and the Bureau of Land Management. Many local private groups, individuals and businesses attend monthly meetings also. Cooperatively solutions are sought, discussed and worked upon. As designed the Group has no regulatory authority. Cooperation is the essence. Given the circumstances have changed on the State level, new opportunities exist, legal solutions are being discussed, explored, debated and new ideas are forming. If we do not find the solutions ourselves in a short time frame, they will be found for us by the State of California. We ALL are part of the problem and we together must find the solutions. No one knows us better than WE do.
