I have been bounced from the Amsterdam NY Small City Politics page. The page is administered by Amsterdam Deputy Mayor and Fourth Ward Alderwoman Diane Hatzenbuhler along with Jerry Skrocki. They had created a pdf of a commentary that had appeared in the Amsterdam Recorder and offered it so that persons could skirt the pay wall at that paper. Now dont get me wrong I have no love for the Recorder for what they did to me, but, if newspapers and the people that work for them are to survive they need to generate income and dont need their product stolen from them. I asked about that, was it a good thing or idea to do this. Well they posted a response about Fair Use. That struck me as odd,(someone on another page predicted they would), since Jerry had felt he had been wronged when a photo of his was used without his permission. So I feeling a little Tim Russert-ish asked if his position had evolved since he had posted an article on the very subject, I gave the link to educate those that were not aware of the situation. Well apparently there is no room for intellectual debate in the group whose stated purpose is: The purpose of this group is to give the people a voice in Amsterdams political arena. Discussion fosters understanding that can help bring about much needed social and economic change. This page is NOT intended to be a vehicle for personal attacks. Comment on content, not on the contributor. This sort of hypocrisy has become the hallmark of this group. As a Republican I have to ask how long will the party that says it wants serious debate allow one of its Leaders run some boondoggle like this? The group has long been little more than a thinly veiled gathering spot for persons attacking Mayor Ann Thane, a Democrat. So come on Joe Emanuelle, Montgomery County, NY GOP, Butch Greco and the rest where are you on Free Speech .... Intellectual Honesty ... Free Enterprise ... Open Debate and all the other issues this group seems to twist into their view?
