I have been following this story and reading a lot of the comments from people who are blaming the police for allowing this to happen. Shootings, murders, rapes, armed robberies, burglaries and other violent and non violent crimes are happening at an all time high every hour in New Orleans and all over the United States, most going unreported and unsolved due to people not wanting to get involved. YOU need to know that the Police, Judges and Prosecutors can not do this job alone. We need you to build a partnership between your community and its Police Department. Its VITAL in order to keep communities safe from those cowardly criminals who are waiting to prey on their next victim, without this vital link, crimes will continue to go unreported and unsolved. Get to know your area and meet your neighbors. Go sit in your local courthouse one day and see what goes on behind the scenes. I can assure you that its not even close to the reality you see on your favorite TV shows. Be aware of your environment and remain alert to situations that could make you a victim. If in doubt, call the police and have it checked out. Dont be afraid to call the Police, crime prevention is everyones responsibility and will not work without you. You can be the key factor in crime prevention. If you witness a crime, call 911 and be a good witness, dont place yourself or others in danger. Remain calm enough to provide vital information to police; try to provide age, race, height, weight, hair color, facial hair, clothing description, last location seen and vehicle information. I encourage each of you to take a stand and tell the criminals that you are tired of the crimes plaguing our communities. Speak up when you see something thats not right, report it to the Police, give a statement and go to court if needed. You are not a rat or snitch for getting involved. Lets stop letting a few bad apples continue to cause chaos and confusion in our communities, lets work together and take back our communities. Enough is Enough.
